TRAINING

– INFORMATION

Welcome to Trident Mountain Bike School.  Some of you know us as Police Mountain Bike School at Ithaca College - Located in Ithaca, New York.  Ithaca is the birth place of New York State’s Basic Law Enforcement Bicycle Patrol Course.  Ithaca College’s Office of Public Safety has hosted this state qualification training since 1994. 

The current Ithaca College Course Director, Master Patrol Officer Erik S. Merlin has carried on this tradition from his predecessors, since 2003 when the training was in jeopardy of not being offer at the college.  Erik Merlin with the support of Ithaca College has rebuilt the program and renewed the quality of training that Ithaca is known for over the last 5 years. 

Trident Mountain Bike School was developed by Merlin to expand the programs capabilities to offer all three main disciplines represented by these organizations:

New York State – Department of Criminal Justice,
International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA), and
Law Enforcement Bicycle Association (LEBA). 

Our goal is to fit the needs of the agencies requesting the training and provide the highest quality of instruction and instructors.  We believe in utilization of mountain bikes and the many different programs and options they give the department.    

We currently offer courses locally in Ithaca as well as offer contracted services for agencies to host the training at their location, all of which are open to anyone in the Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, and Security field.
